For many people, extending makes more sense than moving. Moving means stamp duty, removal fees and solicitors' fees for buying and selling, plus the risk of the chain breaking down. And many people don't want to move at all: home is where the heart is, and they simply need more room.
From first visit to finished build

We can appoint an architect if you don't have plans yet, or work from the plans you already have.
Do you need planning permission?
In 2008 the government revised the planning rules, so more household projects can go ahead without planning permission. That doesn't mean you can build anything you like: there are still guidelines on size, design and position.
If you're not sure, your local planning office can tell you whether you need permission. It's always worth getting their answer in writing, even if you don't. If you live in a listed building your rights are different, so check with your local authority before you plan an extension. The Planning Portal website is also very informative.
